LED Display Composition and Working Principle

The LED display is composed of a number of display units (unit display board or unit display box) that can be combined and spliced to form the screen body, plus a set of the appropriate controllers (master control board or control system). So a variety of specifications of the display board (or unit box) with different control technology controllers can be composed of many kinds of LED display, to meet the needs of different environments and different display requirements.

Main working principle

The LED display is usually composed of the main controller, scanning board, display control unit, and LED display body, the main controller from the computer display card to obtain a screen of each pixel of each color brightness data, and then allocated to a number of scanning board, each scanning board is responsible for controlling the LED display on a number of lines (columns), and each line (columns) on the LED display signal is used in a serial manner through the various display control Cascade transmission of each display control unit directly facing the LED display body.

The work done by the main controller is to convert the computer display to match the signal of the card into the data and control signal format required by the LED display. The role of the display control unit is similar to that of the image display, which is generally composed of shift register latches with a gray-level control function. Only the scale of the video LED display is often larger, so should use the integration of a larger scale of the integrated circuit.

The role played by the scan trigger is the so-called top and bottom, on the one hand, it accepts the video signal from the main controller, on the other hand, the data belonging to this level to their respective display control units, but also the data that does not belong to this level to the next cascade of the scan trigger transmission. The video signal and LED display data, in space, time, sequence, and other aspects of the difference, all need to have a scanning board to assist.

The main components of LED display

  • The metal structure frame: Its role is to constitute the inner frame, carrying the display unit board or module and other circuit boards and switching the power supply
  • Display unit: is the main part of the LED display, composed of LED lights and a drive circuit. The indoor screen is a variety of specifications of the unit display board, the outdoor screen is the module box.
  • Scanning control board: the function of the circuit board is data buffering, generating a variety of scanning signals and duty cycle grayscale control signals.
  • Switching power supply: the 220V AC power into a variety of DC power to provide a variety of circuits.
  • Transmission cable: the display data and various control signals generated by the main controller are transmitted to the screen by twisted pair cable.
  • Main controller: Buffers the input RGB digital video signal, grayscale conversion, reorganization, and generate various control signals.
  • Special display card and multimedia card: In addition to the basic functions of a computer display card, it also outputs digital RGB signal and line, field, and fading signals to the main controller. In addition to the above functions, multimedia can also change the input analog video signal into a digital RGB signal (i.e. video capture).
