How Holographic LED Fans Work: The Persistence-of-Vision Illusion

The physics

A holographic LED fan is a single high-speed rotating blade—typically 40–95 cm in diameter—mounted with a strip of LED chips along one edge. The blade spins at 750–1,500 RPM. As it rotates, the LEDs flash on and off in precise patterns.
